The Importance of Dads

In June we celebrate Dads. Here at The Parent Child Center of Tulsa, we know just how important Dads are.

Kerem’s Story:

Kerem took full parental responsibility of Ruby when she was just three weeks old.  He enrolled in PCCT’s Parents as Teachers program after experiencing significant life difficulties. Every other week, Kerem and Ruby met with their parent educator, Jackie. Jackie provided Kerem with education on child development and infant care. She assisted with child developmental screenings, and made referrals to community resources when needed. Kerem learned how to engage with Ruby in a way that promoted bonding and Ruby’s healthy brain development. He gained information about keeping his house safe for Ruby as she grew and became curious about the world around her. Kerem received passes to the Tulsa Children’s Museum, and took Ruby as many times as he could manage. He received all these services on a voluntary basis and free of charge.

“I don’t think I would have made it. I don’t think I would have made it without them,” said Kerem regarding the in-home parenting support he received from The Parent Child Center of Tulsa.
