The Kids on the Block (KOB) program enriches ongoing or available personal
safety programs/curriculums in the
school/community. The Parent Child Center of Tulsa's volunteer puppeteers
are trained to perform the skits on safety, physical and sexual abuse
for children in kindergarten to fifth grade.
To ensure
the most supportive atmosphere for the children, The Parent Child
Center of Tulsa established the following guidelines:
- Skits
will be performed for fewer than 25 children at
a time.
- An
adult will be in charge of the children.
- A professional
counselor will be present in case a disclosure of abuse is made
by a child.
- An evaluation
form will be completed after each performance and returned to
the Parent Child Center of Tulsa.
- The attending
counselor will report disclosures of abuse to the Department
of Human Services.
