Advocacy

"To advocate for the protection and nurturing of children at risk of or victims of child abuse and neglect in our community and our state, by educating policy makers and the public about the need.”

At The Parent Child Center of Tulsa, we have an Advocacy committee committed to bettering the lives of children.  Central to this goal is relationship building with community leaders.  We encourage you to write a letter to your City Councilor and State Representatives introducing yourself and expressing your support of children’s issues.  From time to time we post action alerts to let you know about specific issues coming before our legislative bodies that will have an impact (either negatively or positively) on Oklahoma children.  If you would like to receive these alerts via email, or learn more about our committee  please contact Adriane Jaynes

Please take a moment to contact your elected officials to let them know that you are a caring and engaged constituent.  Bread for the World, a hunger relief advocacy group, estimates that it only takes 12-15 hand written letters to get a US Congressman or Senator looking into an issue.  Recently we were told that as few as five handwritten letters is all it takes to get the attention of State Representatives.  In this digital age, the power of hand written letters is tremendous.
